Non-finnish information request

I recently moved to Finland for my work (Biology researcher, focussing on ants). I'm originally Dutch, and used to keep many different kinds of animals. Mostly ants, but also some praying mantids, beetles, long-tailed lizards and predatory bugs.
I've been trying to find some information for Finland.
- In the Netherlands, most pet-shops are not very good for exotic animals. Either they don't have them, or they don't have a clue about them. Is that the same in Finland? If not, what are recommendable pet-shops?
- Are there hobbyists that sell? If so, where to find them?
- What would be the best way to get equipment here, such as terraria, heatmats etc.
I live in Helsinki.
Hope I posted this in the right forum, my google-translate skills told me this was the most appropriate place.
Thanks a lot!

Hobbyists that sell... That's pretty much just here and on some of the smaller Finnish forums. Have a look in the classifieds section ("Kauppatori"). Is there anything specific that you are looking for?

I'll try and go to that exposition (if I'm not doing fieldwork in Tvärminne at that point).
I'm not looking for anything specific yet. Most probably I'll start some ant colonies again, and maybe some beetles/praying mantids/phasmids. For a long time in the Netherlands I was thinking of having a Thamnopis snake, but since I had to move I decided against it. Still in love with them though!
Not going to start on lizards (which I love), as I might be moving quite a lot. I also saw some information on snales. They look kind of interesting, but I don't know enough about them yet.
Time to do more research! Thanks again for the information!

But seriously, if you have anything to ask, ask. Someone here said that "There are no stupid questions, the people who don't ask are stupid themselves" In finnish of course,
and don't always trust google translator, it doesn't like the other forms of Finnish words so mistakes are common.

If you can't find it here, you can't find it inside Finland.
And as people said above, if you wish to meet other hobbyist do join us at the expo this weekend. Some of us will be at section 2c42. Give us a holler if you happen to walk by. (I'll be the one with pigtails and an orange shirt, with the cute lil' boa constrictor around my neck

Now I need to ask, have you in Netherlands animals and terrarium stuff in hardware stores? We were on vacation in Germany last autumn and there were a really good repetuary of terrarium stuff in hardware store (I can`t remember the name of the store anymore), and there were many different animal species on sale too. It was really strange to see animals in hardware store. We don`t have even terrarium stuff in our hardware stores here in Finland. Welcome to Herppi.net!

If I understood correctly you are biologist or biology student? Do you know Dr. Jouni Sorvari? Or CBEES? Biologist Sorvari knows a lot about ants and studies them. Dr. Tapio van Ooik can probably speak Dutch. I'm not quite sure, because I have never heard him speak Dutch. Here´s some links that might interest you.

@Krisu, I personally don't know them (arrived in Finland 3 weeks ago). I just asked my colleague Heikki Helantera, and he knows them. I'll probably meet them. I'm a biologist (post-doctoral researcher Evolutionary Biology. Did my PhD in Copenhagen).
Thanks for the links. I'll check them out =)
Cheers
